Ok guys, I finally took my moms advice, and as it turns out she knew what she was talking about. I've had a pair of jeans in my closet that I love, but I haven't been able to wear them since high school. I was barely able to get them over my thighs, and I could barely button them without the fear that I would rip them!
I decided I was tired of having a few extra pounds on me, and I really want to tone up my body. You need to make sure that you exercise, but you really don't have to over do it.
The biggest thing that you need to do is to change your diet!
Eat as many fresh fruits and veggies as you want, nothing canned because most of them contain preservatives.
Cut out white flour AND whole wheat! Use spelt, quinoa, and rice. I also like to use sprouted grain bread such as Food For Life's Ezekiel bread. You can also buy brown rice pasta which is really good, it has the same texture as whole wheat pasta.
NO SUGAR! And do not replace it with fake sugar like Splenda! If you need a sweetener use agave syrup or stevia. And NO orange juice. I like SO Delicious coconut milk, and they even make frozen desserts sweetened with agave syrup yum!
Eat 1 ingredient foods, this doesn't mean that you can't combine 1 ingredient foods!
Don't use fake butters or margarine, use REAL butter. Your body needs fat in order to burn fat!
Use olive oil, eat avocados, nuts, and other types of foods with good fat.
DON'T count calories, you can eat as much as you want (don't over do it) but there's no need to count your calories.
Remember that spices are your friend, they will help make your meals tastier!
If you start this program, I would like to hear how it works for you!

Cinnamon Toast
I love cinnamon toast for breakfast with warm butter on top, yum! It may sound unhealthy, but the cinnamon bread I am referring to is sprouted 100% whole grain, no flour Ezekiel bread from Food For Life. It is delicious, and my favorite part is, there's no added sugar! Now you might think that I am crazy for saying that this is "healthy" because I put butter on it, but in reality our body needs "good" fat! Don't waste your time buying fake butter or margarine, which are worse than butter itself! I am not saying to use a whole tablespoon, but you can put a decent amount on your toast. If you are trying to lose weight, your body needs "good" fat in order to burn fat, but the fat you should eat needs to be a healthy fat. You can find these "good" fats in foods like avocados, cashews (raw), salmon, and in olive oil. Happy eating!

Protein
A lot of women don't want to take protein powder because they are afraid that they will bulk up. Ladies, your body is not going to "bulk" if you only take one serving of protein powder after you work out. It is very hard for women to bulk, we just weren't designed that way! I absolutely love Super Healthy Whey Protein by Dr. Ward Bond. You can find it on nutritional-living.com. It doesn't contain : Soy, lactose, added sugar, artificial colors, flavors, corn, yeast, wheat, grain, or egg. It is very hard to find a protein powder without all of those items just listed, and it is even harder to find one that tastes good! This one is awesome, I highly recommend it! I like it plain with water, just make sure it is blended well, and even add some ice. I also like it with almond milk and sometimes even add strawberries and/or bananas to make a shake!
Buy Local!
Helping the environment while eating healthy is easy! Visit your local markets and co-op's to find fresh food! Make wholesome meals without processed foods, it's easy, and shopping at co-op's will save you money. To find a co-op near you visit http://www.coopdirectory.org/directory.htm .
Spelt flour
Cooking with spelt flour is a great alternative to white flour and even, the all glorified, whole wheat flour! Spelt flour is better for your body because it is easier for you to metabolize. The nutrients in spelt are protected better than in whole wheat flour because of its harder shell, and also contains more protein. Spelt still contains gluten so it is not acceptable for those on a gluten free diet. I love the taste of spelt flour because it has a nuttier taste, and would be great for making some sort of breakfast bread with fruit. I guess I will have to make a loaf and find out!

Get out and Run!
It's a beautiful fall day outside, so get out there and run! Use this website runningmap.com you plot the points and it tells you how far you've ran. You can also save your runs to go back and see how far each one has been. It is an awesome tool, and can be used for walking too!

miscalculation
Maybe the title miscalculation seems a little pessimistic, but that's not what I'm about. Actually, I usually try to look at the glass as half full. Ironic enough right now I'm feeling somewhat pessimistic. I think it just happens to be one of "those" days. I know that everyone knows what I'm talking about because we all have them. Telling myself that I'm going to be productive today and at 8 p.m. realizing that what I accomplished today was equivalent to about nothing! Getting home from the grocery store only to realize that I left my phone at the checkout counter. Worse, hoping that I didn't leave the volume on so that the workers could hear my ring tone and judge me for it as I meekly asked if they found a phone.
